When you decide to come to Cork, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that there are several ways to get there. The most popular choice for those travelling a great distance is, of course, to fly in. Cork airport is found just five miles south of the heart of Cork City, making it easily accessible by bus or rental car. |

The number of flights entering the country and making directly for Cork airport is increasing, so depending on your point of origin, you may find you have several options of arrival time as well. If, however, your hometown only offers service to Dublin airport, which received the majority of incoming flights, you can simply make a connection to a flight heading directly to Cork airport. |

If flying into Dublin is all the adventure you can stand, however, there are other options open to you. Taking a bus to Cork is a popular choice, and there are both national and private bus companies available to choose from. Bus is a popular and economic means of travel in Ireland, but it may not be for everybody; many people still choose to splurge a little and take a train, however. |

Students may find the extra expenditure is not worth the convenience, even with student savings in effect, but many people enjoy the peace and tranquility the train offers. |

If you want to avoid air travel altogether, there are still other options for entry to Cork. Both the UK and France run ferry services to Ireland, with two major ferry companies operating between the three countries. Sailings from Cork harbour are offered, but if you choose a ferry trip that lands at Dublin or another Irish port, from that point you can hire a rental car or take advantage of the train station and complete your journey to Cork. |
