Dublin Airport Transport

Although Dublin Airport is situated outside of Dublin City Centre, the road, bus and taxi links to the airport are good. Plans are underway to build an underground (Dublin Metro) link from Dublin City Centre to Dublin Airport. No doubt this will be an easier option for people needing to travel between the airport and the city.

The main transit link between the Airport and City Centre is by bus. There are 3 companies which offer a range of services to locations around the city, and a number of long distance buses to locations around Ireland. The buses stop outside the arrivals hall and come regularly with an option of a express or regular service.

The taxi rank is also situated just outside the arrivals hall and usually you will not have to wait very long if at all. The fare from Dublin Airport to Dublin City Centre is roughly €30 and while not being cheap you have the luxury of being dropped to your hotel.

The proposed metro will link Dublin Airport with Dublin City Centre and thus with the Luas system, Dublin Bus system and the intercity railway system. The planning for this metro is progressing quickly and will connect Dublin Airport with the Green Line of the Luas at St Stephens Green.

While Dublin Airport is now struggling to cope with the numbers travelling through every month, extensions to the airport combined with better infrastructure and direct connections to the city centre will improve things greatly. In fact, Dublin Airport is the only airport in Europe that isn’t connected by rail.
