Dublin: An Introduction

Dublin is a city unique on a world wide scale because of its ancient setting and the Georgian architecture that provides an interesting backdrop to one of the most prosperous cities in the world today. Dublin is the both the capital of Ireland and the largest city in Ireland. The city of Dublin is over 1,000 years old (established 988) and has developed from a centre for the Viking slave trade.

The city of Dublin is a Mecca for weekend visitors from all over Europe with Temple Bar being the focus of most visitors. Countless stag and hen parties flock to Temple Bar each weekend to enjoy the night time entertainment and atmosphere in this medieval area. There are a selection of new age and traditional bars and pubs in this area, combined with numerous eateries that make this the ideal place to visit for nightlife in Dublin City Center.

The main shopping district in Dublin is Grafton Street. The street has developed from a simple country lane to now being one of the most fashionable shopping streets in the Europe. There is a gentle incline on this pedestrian only street as you make your way from the Molly Malone status to St Stephens Green. Many of the international names in fashion have shops here, and on many of the side streets off Grafton Street you will find bars and pubs if you need a break from the shopping.

The population of Dublin City Center is largely made up of young prosperous people who are enjoying the continuous economic growth brought about by the Celtic Tiger
