Introduction to Ireland West Knock Airport
Ireland West Knock Airport is located beside Charlestown in County Mayo, and was officially opened in 1986 after a long campaign by Monsignor James Horan to build an airport. He saw Knock Airport as an ideal way to attract tourism and business to the West of Ireland, which traditionaly lagged behind some of the more prosperous areas in Ireland. The Airport is seviced by Aer Arann, Aer Lingus, Bmibaby and Ryanair.
