| | Fota Island |
| |
Fota Island is a wildlife sanctuary as opposed to a zoo. Animals life in a free range environment with other species and human visitors. The animals are so chosen because they can adapt to the Irish environment. For some of the larger animals, barriers prevent access by visitors, but this is always done in an unobtrusive way and so that it doesn’t impede the quality of life of the animal. Fota Island is the only wildlife sanctuary of its type in Ireland and is well worth a visit. |
